Superfast cars, police chases, and angry co-racers determined to send you off the tracks. The adrenaline is just perfect for a racing game! Although this isn’t the first enthralling piece from EA Sports, this does bring something new to the table. The graphics are great, controls intuitively, and races are more than exciting.
So, are there limits to No Limits?
Gameplay is as intriguing as ever
Need for Speed: No Limits is replete with underground races. The goal for you and other gamers alike is to climb the ladder to the very top. If there’s ever going to be a Greatest of All Time debate, you should definitely win it. So, the focus is largely on pushing cars to their limits (sorry, they have no limits).
This game isn’t big on a storyline and that’s no surprise. It’s all about who has the best cars and who can pull off the fastest races. Except you can’t survive a playthrough without a strong storyline, No Limits won’t be a problem one bit. Besides, what’s the storyline we could have in a racing game? Every story should be told on the track, right?
What the game lacks in plot, it makes up for in content. With over 30 amazing cars in the mix there’s no end to terrific races. What’s even better is that these cars are customizable. Yes, you can tweak several parts of the cars to suit your taste and function better. As you shine on the tracks, you unlock new car parts you can then bet that these new parts would make your car racing career even more spectacular.
The game’s mechanics are simply lit
We are all familiar with the developer’s exploits in previous games. Sometimes, we get too over-familiar. But with No Limits, the amount of work put into the mechanics is unbelievable. Regardless of how many beautifully designed games you’ve seen, the realistic approach employed in this game will still be astonishing.
One of the common problems with car racing mobile games is the controls. Either they are slow and unresponsive or they hold an awkward position on the screen. In Need for Speed: No Limits, you don’t have to bother with any of that. Unbelievably, there are no buttons on the screen. Too good to be true, right? Whether you want to accelerate, turn the steering wheel, or hold the brake pads, there are absolutely no buttons for them.
So, how do you get to do these things? Simple! To move the car in either direction, tap on the corresponding side of the screen. If it’s time to gear up acceleration, swipe up on the screen and you’re good to go. Swiping down on the screen will decrease acceleration. The implication of this is that you never actually get to use breaks. Rather, you step down on full acceleration to perform drifts. There you have it: utter convenience in the most realistic car racing game ever.
Another area where this game shines is in graphics. Need for Speed: No Limits is beautiful and there’s no better way to put it. Every part of it feels real and attractive. The way the tracks are designed, the details of every car, and the race itself – there’s no denying everything was put into this. No Limits gets rid of the many unrealistic elements that were a constant feature in previous Need for Speed installments. All of these contribute to the game’s visual excellence.
Now, let’s talk about the cars
Need for Speed: No Limits and other games in the genre. Most gamers will find it easier racing in this game than other Need for Speed installments. I enjoy grueling challenges when it comes to gaming, but there’s nothing better than the sweet taste of victory. There’s more likelihood of getting that in No Limits than other games.Cars are the most important things in a car racing game – and that’s pretty obvious. Need for Speed: No Limits does well to elevate that. As you would expect, the cars come in different ratings, speed, power, and special features. That gives you a lot of exciting options to choose from.
But what’s the use of cars in car racing if there are no races? They’ll be no better than vehicles in our garage no one drives. Thankfully, this game gives you more than a single racing option. You could for the normal start-to-finish races or dwell in the thrill of timed races. There are other race types besides these two, helping the replay value of the game.
The races aren’t the longest you’ll find and that’s not so bad. For some races, you only have half a minute to show how monstrous you are when it comes to speed. There are also longer races though, but don’t expect to spend a whole lot of time trying to finish a race. For some of us who enjoy fast and quick races, No Limits is just perfect. However, the lag between each race can be annoying. Usually, it takes more time for the next race to load than it takes for you to finish it.
If we forgive the absurdity of the delays between races, racing in this game is completely enjoyable. It’s not so hard to tell the difference between
Verdict
There’s no denying that Need for Speed: No Limits is an exciting and entertaining game. It beats similar games with its intuitive controls, which make racing more convenient. There are different race types to choose from and with the availability of tens of incredible cars, there’s no downhill in fun. Although quick progression often depends on in-app purchases, which can be frustrating, some level of patience can do the magic. In all, No Limits is a racing game you don’t want to miss out on – never!
