When you get tired of Clash of Clans and need something similar but with a unique exhilarating dynamic, State of Survival is the game you turn to. The world is full of insane zombies searching for the next living being to tear apart. Your job is to protect your kingdom from these beasts while continually developing your base. State of Survival is a strategy game set in a post-apocalypse world. Your settlement is sandwiched between several others. The thrill about this game is that not only zombies are after your life. The surrounding settlements are run by players characters like yourself – some a thousand times more powerful than you. They could turn on you at any time and you become juicy meat.
The game, although less than two years old, already has over 10 million downloads. It stands as one of the top-ranked games on iOS. If there’s one thing that we can tell from these statistics, it is that the State of Survival has had incredible success. Maybe that’s because it’s an incredible game in itself.
Build a formidable settlement in a post-apocalyptic world
The main task of the game is uncomplicated: build that formidable settlement. However, you’re going to need a lot of wits and grind to do that. As the game begins, you find yourself as the head of a settlement packed full of survivors. The sting of the apocalypse is still pervasive and the fear palpable. Besides, there is still real undead out there hunting for humans. So, you have to protect these people – and do so with all you’ve got.
In a bid to protect your people, you have to expand the settlement. From a little expanse of land, you begin to clear out areas previously inhabited by zombies and erect structures. However, the most important task is upgrading your Headquarters, which is the life wire of the game. To do that, there are a series of tasks you must complete. These tasks are not the most difficult you’ll find, but they offer great excitement. It may be going out to rescue a survivor or simply upgrading a particular building.
Every structure has a purpose and the more buildings you put up, the more prosperous you become. You have several resources, including wood, iron, food, and gas, to help with building construction and upgrades. When you set out to erect a building, there’s usually a specified amount of resources you need to complete it. Basic buildings, unsurprisingly, will cost less to construct compared to larger buildings.
In addition to building construction, you’ll also spend a significant amount of time in the game training and upgrading your troops. State of Survival offers you different troops which you can upgrade to an available max level, depending on the level of resources you have. You can decide to choose the second option of training your troop. While this alternative takes more time, you don’t have to bother about resources while doing so.
Clear the zombies out
I particularly liked the zombie feature in this game, and that’s maybe because I’m always in for zombie stuff. State of Survival has so many of them you’ll have to fight. Engaging these unscrupulous elements with your heroes is a frequent feature of the game. Although you have an abundance of heroes, you have to be careful about the ones you send out. It’s best if you take a look at the hero’s strengths and unique abilities before sending them to face a monster.
Since the heroes have different combat styles, picking one with the right skills for a particular zombie squad is essential. Some prefer to hack enemies down from a distance, while others prefer a one-on-one fight. For your strategy to be successful, there’s also a need to consider the overall power of the enemy you want to engage. If it turns out the bad guys will eat you for dinner, better stay put until you’re strong enough.
Alliances that will protect you
While you spend resources building your settlement and gathering wealth, there are eyes on you. These are not only the eyes of the zombies with lustful eyes of other player characters looking to swallow your prosperity. You never can tell when someone is going to attack you and plunder you. The pain of losing everything after putting in so much can be more than excruciating.
That’s why you need alliances. By forming partnerships with other allies, you can have some guarantee of protection from the prying eyes in the vast universe. These alliances are similar to what you’re used to from other games. They allow you to face challenging situations with your allies by your side. This feature is, arguably, the best part of the game.
The multiplayer element of State of Survival doesn’t end there. You can leave the comfort of your budding empire and invade other players’ settlements. Doing this puts you in a PvP environment, which is usually fascinating. If you’re powerful enough, you can run the settlement aground, carting away all the resources. However, there’s the risk of losing everything if you fail.
While you have the freedom to attack other settlements, yours isn’t shielded from such attacks. It’s usually a nightmare when you’re rendered helpless from an attack by a high-level power. To think some players spend real money to upgrade faster makes it all unfair to those who don’t want to buy their progress.
Verdict
State of Survival is an amazing strategy game, with impressive 3D graphics and compelling multiplayer elements. The game is completely free-to-play, except you want to speed things up in building construction. State of Survival is replete with intriguing gaming contents and features that keep you glued to your seat. If you love strategy games, you don’t want to miss out on this one.
