As the name implies, KingsGroup did not make Z Day – Hearts of Heroes for the faint at heart as it is a thoroughly engaging title. It centers around survival in an alternate universe and involves launching periodic attacks, leading military troops, and base management. Think of it as the clash of clans but with a more army-like theme. You get to build army bases, rebuild your fort from ruins, use supersoldiers and mobilize troops. Another immersive feature that makes thousands of enthusiasts unrepentantly glued to the game is the real-time option and chats feature. With this, players can converse with thousands of fellow commanders around the world effortlessly. 

Since its release on android in 2018, the game has received substantial praise and criticism. Notably, many gamers have complained about the helplessness that follows constant attacks from bigger players. Most high-ranked commanders use in-game purchases to upgrade their bases quickly and pound on smaller bases. This leaves the player frustrated as they have to rebuild all that they’ve labored for over several days. In essence, there’s a need for balance similar to what we experience when playing other strategy games.,

Like we mentioned above, Z Day – Hearts of Heroes is an engaging multiplayer strategy game. The aim is to construct and develop a military base in an alternate universe. Around the end of the second world war, the Nazis detonated a biological weapon that destroyed a large chunk of the earth through antimatter. This unfortunate incident gave the game its name “zero-day.” After the incident, some evil forces intended to use the opportunity to defend the few remaining humans on earth. As such, your job is to protect them from zombie-like races that emerged from the aftermath of the explosion. 

The military bases on earth are in ruins as the game begins after the explosion. The player’s job at this point is to reconstruct the base, starting with the food company. The game will give you some soldiers as allies as soon as they smell the budding food factory. You will provide them with food and clothing, and in return, they will help you with the wreckage. The developers also placed an assistant in the game to inform you of what buildings to put up and give you situational reports from time to time. The most vital structures you must build first are the houses that will shield enemy attacks. 

You have two days to know the plan extensively and the benefits of each structure. Shortly after you start construction, you will get some war heroes that will offer you more strength and mission advantages. The basic resources you need to come out on top include food, oil, steel, and gold. The food strengthens the army and ensures that you have the necessary fuel to complete the mission. However, it is best to wait to receive food from mission perks instead of keeping them in the inventory beforehand. You also need oil to construct and power military tools. Steel, on the other hand, helps you in creating tools and weapons for heroes and commanders. 

Another interesting resource is gold. You can obtain some after the successful completion of your mission. It is the game’s main currency, and you can purchase heroes, fasten the building process, and do some research with it. I implore that you do not waste it unnecessarily as it is very rare to come by. You will be tempted to use it in speeding up your constructions, but this is not worth it in the long run. A more worthy purchase is a war hero. You can also repair your major weapons if you have some spare golds. 

A very vital tactic to succeed in this game is to ensure that you save your resources from the beginning. Do not hastily use them to upgrade or buy things. Also, do not get resources out of the inventory till you need them. The reason is that as soon as your two-day shield is over, you and your resources become vulnerable to enemy attack and looting. 

Truly A Great Game

I must commend the game’s interface as it is well built. As soon as you launch the game, it shows you different zones on the screen. The commander has a place on the upper left area where you can see his strengths, resources, and profile detail. I particularly like the fact that you can build the commander’s ability as you like based on some parameters. For instance, you can increase the troop’s ability, construction speed, endurance, and training speed. These are the things that will give you an edge over the enemy. In addition to these immersive features, the game offers a multiplayer game mode where you can compare your abilities with that of thousand others. 

The real-time conversation and chat feature also give the game some nice edge. With it, you can discuss battle and defense strategies among your allies before the attack day. 

Now, Let’s Talk About How It Can Improve

There’s the problem of poor matching among players. The game has also suffered from poor improvements despite its lifespan in the app stores. Sometimes, new events are poorly designed, and glitches ranging from blank screens and freezes are quite common. 

Verdict

Undoubtedly, this game offers what could fill and keep players’ hands busy for a long time. Ranging from the building duties to planning an attack and at the same time defending your base, getting addicted is not far-fetched. However, the developers must keep their heads up and put some improvements to the apparent glitches if the game wishes to stand tall among similar titles in the same genre.
