Just Cause 4 is an action-adventure single-player game that can be played on different platforms, including Microsoft Windows, Playstation 4, and Xbox One. Just Cause 4 is a part of the popular Just Cause series (fourth on the list). After being developed by Avalanche Studios in 2018, the game makers added several mind-blowing contents that made playing the game even more exciting and adventurous.
As a new player, you can now choose between Just Cause 4 Reloaded, Just Cause 4 Gold, and the Complete Edition, all of which are an improvement of Just Cause 4. This review is, however, focused on Just Cause 4: Reloaded.
Nothing Stays Hidden With Rico on the Move
Just Cause 4: Reloaded is an improved version of Just Cause 4, which follows the missions and adventure of Rico Rodriguez (the protagonist of the story). The game is set in Solis (a fictional country located somewhere in South America).
Rico is on an undercover mission to uncover the truth about his father’s involvement with the ‘Black Hand,’ an organization known for its evil activities against Solis. A top-secret project (Project Illapa) was created, which was said to have the ability to develop and control harsh weather conditions like storms and tornadoes.
To bring down and destroy the psychotic project, Rico Rodriguez had to form his army, known as ‘The Army of Chaos.’ Major characters in his army include Mira, Luis, who is also known as Santiago, Izzy, Garland King, and Javi Huerta, all having specific roles in the mission.
Rico and his group later learned that project Illapa was initially created for a good cause, and was run by Leon Espinosa (the father of the major antagonist of the game_ Espinosa). Upon his father’s death, Espinosa took over the leadership of the project and sold it off to the highest bidder.
Gameplay – Let the Game Begin
Just Cause 4: Reloaded is played from a third-person view. The player takes on the role of Rico Rodriguez. The geographical settings of the game include high snowy mountains, deserts, jungles, beaches, etc. Due to the manipulation of the weather conditions by the antagonists, the country is exposed to extreme weather disasters like thunderstorms and tornadoes.
In order to navigate the areas, Rico Rodriguez has to use different aids like wingsuits, grappling hooks, hot air balloons, rocket boosters, etc. Despite these aids, movement around the country doesn’t get easier as new elements are added into the already extreme weather conditions.
Just Cause 4: Reloaded has some improved content added to the game to make things more efficient and exciting. Some of such contents include the sky striker wingsuit and the neon racer. These additions make it easier for Rico Rodriguez to navigate the countryside despite the extreme weather conditions and the rugged topography.
Rico Rodriguez finally succeeded in destroying the major weather cores, but Espinosa had also succeeded in creating a core that could harness the power of all four cores, causing a major setback for the ‘Army of Chaos ‘. Their new mission is to take down the core before Espinosa succeeds in transporting and selling it to the agency.
It Never Gets Boring with these Weapons and Vehicles
More weapons were introduced to Just Cause 4: Reloaded, which makes the game more adventurous, and the fights more interesting. A number of vehicles and other gadgets were also introduced in Just Cause 4: Reloaded. Weapons in Just Cause 4: Reloaded include the wind gun, weaponized vehicles like the fuel tank sphere that throws fireballs. There are also bombs, and other ammunition.
Since Just Cause 4: Reloaded is all about blowing things up to destroy the creations of ‘the black hand’, you will need all the weapons you could get your hands on, in order to accomplish your mission. There is a wide selection of vehicles, weapons, and equipment from which you could choose. The sky striker wingsuit has been weaponized, and there are also weaponized vehicles like tanks, jets, etc.
Other exciting contents in Just Cause 4: Reloaded include the hand stealth jet, which leaves massive damage in its wake, the neon racer pack which makes movement more tolerable, the deathstalker, and the renegade pack.
Just Cause 4: Reloaded makes it possible to collect vehicles from enemies. Once collected, you can add those vehicles to your collection and use them to destroy enemies.
Fantabulous Features to Keep You Glued to Your Screen
The game design is excellent, with lots of amazing environmental features. The geographical features of Solis have a lot in common with a typical South American state. When playing the game, you will find a lot of features, including mountains, deserts, beaches, jungles, and lots more. Just Cause 4: Reloaded also has some urban settings with just as many buildings and features as you could expect.
You can unlock different locations while playing the game. With each new location comes a new challenge and mission. These missions must be completed to enable you to claim more lands. Once unlocked, you may then have access to the weapons or vehicles in such locations.
Verdict
Just Cause 4: Reloaded is a significant improvement to the previous games in the Just Cause series. Firstly, I found Just Cause 4: Reloaded to be more challenging than the other games in the series. Also, the addition of weapons, vehicles, and gears to the content makes Just Cause 4: Reloaded even more adventurous. Although a few features require more work, the overall outlook of the game is quite impressive and worth the time and energy spent in playing the game.
