Evil Within 2 is the latest of the third-person survivor horror series. Mastermind Shinji Mikami produced The Evil Within 2 video game, and Tango Gameworks developed it. Bethesda Softworks published The Evil Within 2 for Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in 2017. The Evil Within 2 is the upshot of The Evil Within, the first series released in 2014. Shinji Mikami was the supervisor and producer for The Evil Within 2 throughout its development stages. This was in 2015 when Tango Gameworks completed the development of the previous game’s downloadable content. The Evil Within 2 brought an improved and understandable story, enhanced designs while retaining its gore-horror feature. The Evil Within 2 is a response to the criticisms of the first game.
The narration of The Evil Within 2 follows the 2014 release. Upon its release in 2017, The Evil Within 2 got positive reviews worldwide, and players were quick to point to its incredible visuals, environment, and exciting gameplay. However, there were some reservations against its storyline and characters. In addition, the Evil Within 2 works with the STEM engine, a custom-made engine Tango Gameworks developed.
The Evil Within 2 Retains Its Survivor Horror Identity.
It is a third-person video game where the player takes the character of Sebastian Castellanos, a detective who takes the path of survival to the world of the Union in the quest to rescue his daughter, Lily. The Evil Within 2 has three difficulty modes to allow players to choose their desired mode according to what they can handle. The modes are Casual, Survival, and Nightmare but the Evil Within 2’s producer recommends the Casual mode. When the player has mastered the game, he can follow the difficulty curve. The Evil Within 2 has larger maps providing multiple paths for players to complete the levels in the game.
The Evil Within 2 has “The Communicator,” which helps players highlight the resources, enemies, and objectives listed in the game. The item also gives insights into what goes on in the world of the Union. You can choose to complete side objectives in Evil Within 2, which makes the game more interesting since you can give yourself a break from any of the actual game missions. The Evil Within 2 has a collection of weapons and skillful stealth movements to modify confrontations. In Evil Within 2, players can gather resources to build new items like ammo, and the game offers a customization feature for weapon parts.
Two Stories, One With A Simpler Path To Survival
The Evil Within 2 paints a world that is rather unusual and can send shivers down your spine. The story is narrated in two different paths, with each path significantly different from the other. In the first path, the player begins the journey with another character inside STEM. You may consider this boring as the boss is weak, and you can easily dodge attacks.
In the second path, there are more actions as it focuses more on higher tasks and graver consequences for the player. With the way my player is built, the first path of the Evil Within 2’s story may be unnecessary since I can easily win in there. In other words, Evil Within 2 is telling two completely different stories, each with a different mood. However, Evil Within 2 retains its creepiness as there is always something at the corner waiting to devour you. It might make your heart beats strangely.
Side Quests To Boost Your Morale
Side quests are what you will love in the Evil Within 2. In the first half of the game, there is an open world where you can choose to go or not after completing a major quest. If you decide to go in and investigate, you will experience an entirely different world where you can discover new weapons and enjoy continuous combat with zombies. In addition, there are optional side quests that you can embark on to find resources or weapon parts. In one of these optional quests, you are required to save a Union citizen. The horror feature in the game is also present in the side quests are you are bound to meet some nasty and shocking surprises.
You Don’t Always Have To Pick A Fight.
This is one of the exciting aspects of the game. Although Evil Within 2 is a highly combative game with survival-horror style, much of the combat actions come when you are spotted and have to fight for your life. Here, it would help if you used whatever weapon or resources are at your disposal. While playing the game, I was moved to test weapons that do not require dual combat. Sometimes I use the crossbow and its bolts. Other times, I make sure I go for the headshot before being spotted. These stealth approaches make the Evil Within 2 more interesting, and it further portrays the survival instinct of my player. The play is simple; I hit the enemies before I get spotted. And if I do get spotted, then I face the enemy head-on.
I particularly like gunning for the head since headshot settles it once and for all. With the scarcity of ammo even, I always try to conserve my resources. I had a crazy encounter with a boss during a play. It was a frustrating battle because the headshots were not registered on his body. It took an extended effort to bring him down.
You Will Need Every Item
I make it a hobby of picking every item and resource I see. Without these items, the game might have taken another turn. The items and resources are very useful in upgrading my guns and abilities. In addition, there are always healing items that can keep you in the game longer than you deserve. Interestingly, the player’s inventory is unlimited, so there is no restriction on the number of items you can collect in Evil Within 2.
