If you are a fan of Motocross or the FIM MXGP race series, you’ll enjoy the gameplay and game design of MXGP 2020. The official Motocross videogame was created based on the popular 2020 FIM MXGP race series. The game has seventeen tracks, just like the race series. MXGP 2020 was developed and published by Milestone. It is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and PC.
Creating a Personal FIM MXGP Experience
During the 2020 FIM MXGP race series, there were 18 race weekends that took place in 8 different locations. This was replicated in the game, as MXGP featured eighteen tracks in six locations instead of eight, as was the case in the race event. The two locations that were left out are the Belgium venue (Lommel) and the Spanish location. However, there is a track editor in the game, where you can create a replica of the venues if you so desire. I did.
Modes and Game Features in MXGP 2020
The career mode in MXGP 2020 was just what I expected. The game mode starts with players trying to survive the MX2 season to qualify for the MXGP season. With the career mode, you can take your rider from MX2 to MXGP glory by upgrading vehicles, participating in online races, editing different tracks, engaging in time trials, and exploring the open world option.
Exciting Features Introduced in MXGP 2020
There is a playground feature where players can do things like creating different checkpoints for races and other creations and modifications. The playground is very beautiful with many scenic views, which makes customization more interesting. You can take your riding to the next level with this exciting feature themed after the Norwegian fjords. Customize and place your checkpoints to create your route through this exceptional training area. There are many notable improvements in MXGP 2020 compared to earlier games in the series, which was one of the major factors that attracted me to this series. (apart from the fact that it is based on the 2020 FIM MXGP race series). There is an improvement in bike stamina, as it is easier to control the bike even when it is in the air.
Earlier games in the series had very little competition as the AI opponent was not a challenge. The AI opponent in MXGP 2020 was greatly improved, which made the game more competitive and enjoyable. The console frame rate was doubled to 60fps which made the overall framework more impressive. MXGP 2020 also has a DualSense support system which makes the game control smoother than ever. I enjoy how the game feels on my hands. You can choose to reduce or increase the trigger feedback depending on your preferences. I was expecting the Women’s MX mode to return in MXGP 2020. However, my expectations were cut short as the game mode was not included in the game.
Competitive Gameplay, Whether Alone or with a Team
Complete missions in MXGP 2020 to earn XP h(experience points). These points enable you to level up easily. Once you reach higher levels, you will be able to get more sponsors who pay higher MX credits. Your major objective in MXGP 2020 is to perform well in MX2 and qualify for the MXGP season. The ultimate goal is to become the world champion and take home the crown.
When playing as a single-player against AI opponents, you get to select a difficulty level. The level determines how good the AI competitors will play. The AI’s ability is usually customized to match your strengths. There is, however, a little glitch with the AI program. The riders at the forefront tend to disappear from the tracks simply.
Progressing on MXGP 2020
There are many ways you can progress through the seasons. You can either join a team or race alone. It is also possible to work with different sponsors who will eventually provide the finances needed for the race. When you sign a sponsor, you will need to add their logos to your bike in return for the money they give to you. Players can use the money gotten from the sponsors to buy new bikes, customize their bikes, buy gears for the bike, etc. Other game modes and features you should expect include the Time Attack game mode, Grand Prix game mode, and Championship game mode.
As a beginner in the game, you will start with the MX2 class, where you can only use slower bikes during the race week. You can select a game character from the available character models. There are existing outfits you can sign, such as the Husqvarna team. There are so many parts you could buy, including the handlebar grips and chains.
Realistic Graphics and Visuals
The graphics and visuals of MXGP 2020 improved greatly, especially when playing with PS5. The visuals of the game make it look like you’re racing on a real-life platform. The lighting is great and perfectly blends with the graphics to create a realistic scenic view. The muds in the tracks are also more realistic than ever. They splatter on the screen as you splash through them. I was very impressed with the character model design, which made the characters look more like humans. The character’s shirts usually get ruffled in the wind during races. The spectators on both sides of the track sometimes make me feel like a superstar racer riding to victory.
Conclusion
If you are looking for a yearly racing game you can always rely on, MXGP 2020 is one you should consider. The game is released every year, but Milestone never ceases to amaze me with the upgrades and improvements they feature in each release. Over the years, MXGP has maintained its standards and gameplay while ensuring that the game doesn’t get boring or annoying.
