Metin2 is an incredible Korean action and MMORPG game set in the fantasy world of three kingdoms. With a crowd of enemies to defeat in sensational combats, players inevitably have to grow their fight skills as they progress throughout the game until they become indefatigable. This free-to-play combo-based game is an entire world of Asian-styled hack-and-slash adventure.

While you may not get the fascinating graphics that come with recent MMOs, Metin2 retains that distinctive feel of the beginning of Asian MMORPGs. The thrill of the gameplay resonates in the PvP modes where you can duel with other players. While the PvE modes present some interest combat scenery, the game’s crescendo lies with the PvP modes.

As a player, you’re in a fantasy world with three kingdoms that once co-existed in peace and tranquility. Now, the kingdoms are on the brink of total catastrophe, and you have to be the Deus ex Machina. Your very first task is choosing a kingdom to represent, with each kingdom offering special treasures and features.

Next is selecting the class to play in – warrior, shaman, sunra, ninja, or lycan. There isn’t much distinction between these classes, although each one has different options for play styles, healing, and buffing. Customizing a character to your taste is hardly plausible due to the limited functionality of the game. If you’re not so thrilled by that, you won’t have any problems. It’s also important to note that the game is available on private servers, meaning you can have different game rules depending on the server you’re playing.

With the class selection done, you wear the “rep badge” and go all out to defend the kingdom. You have an entire fantasy world to wade through and defeat enemies. The game brings its own flavor through its environment.

Metin2 is renowned for its gradual place, and that is obviously a deliberate design to ensure players explore all the game has to offer. So instead of breezing through the gameplay in a flash, players find themselves immersed in the story and they experience the entirety of the game.

The PvE game story is not a complicated one, as it’s a replica of the traditional fetch-and-kill mission. With several levels to complete, you’ll need some patience, but it will be worth it. The adrenaline of the combats will keep you pushing till you get to much higher levels. There, you can engage in craft activities like fishing and mining or to lay your hands on more advanced equipment.

As incredible as the PvE modes are, you would have missed out on the most pulsating aspect of the game if you don’t play the PvP modes. The PvP brings a superior pump of adrenaline, as you battle with combat-seasoned players. Imagine an open world battle between kingdoms, and you’re at the epicenter of it all. There’s nothing for excitingly notorious. Also, PVP also allows you engage in player-versus-player duels with some of the most experienced combatants on the planet.

Think of it: you’re in the middle of a crowd of enemies you have to bring down. That’s exactly what playing Metin2 feels like. So there’s this satisfying feeling of slashing down a mob with a couple of punches. Considering that it’s over a decade old, Metin2 was definitely a major part of the MMOs action genre’s pioneering efforts.

Players can choose between two different combat styles: the classic point and click when the player places the cursor on an enemy and clicks to deal a blow and the active control scheme that is more action-based, giving the player the feel of arcade gameplay. To launch an attack at the basic levels, all you need is the space button. At these levels, players have to control their movement in the scene, including the camera.

As the game progresses, players can deplore combo skills with massive damage. While the few attack skills available in the lower levels can be a drag, the game rewards you as you play. And soon, you’ll be leveling mobs and groups of enemies with a few moves.

Want some items to help your character throughout the game, there’s a cash shop where you can purchase certain items. Players can buy quality of life improvement items to level up their experience and buffer against damage. However, these items only last for seven days. Yet, they make for an incredible addition to the gameplay.

Despite being one of the earliest MMORPG game, Metin2 still delivers an unrivaled baptism of nostalgic thrill and game satisfaction. The PVP mode, especially, resonates with many lovers of PVP games. The PVE mode, on the other hand, offers less than the PVE. Nevertheless, it can be satisfying to play as your levels go up.

Remarkably, the game’s slow character progression is a great tick for many Asian-styled MMORPGs lovers. However, the most remarkable feature is the availability of private servers that offer unique boosters to improve players’ experience. That way, players can get adequately geared up for the terrific PVP combat that makes the Metin3 standout.

So if you are ready to cause a mountain-load of AOE damage, swooping down mobs and groups of fighters, Metin2 is a game to try. The good thing is that it’s a free-to-play action combo, so there’s nothing to lose.
