Have you ever embarked on a road trip where your life, the life of your friends, and perhaps the world’s fate depends on your ability to play smart? Road 96 features an unforgettable ride that gives you the thrills of a road trip adventure. Embark on this dangerous ride as you control The Coen Brothers and their friend Bong Jon-hoo on an unforgettable road trip adventure.

Road 96 was released on 14 April and 16 August 2021 to much fanfare, and it’s easy to see why. Road 96 was published and directed by DigixArt in collaboration with Plug in Digital. The game is available on multiple platforms, including Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Switch, Playstation 4 and 5, Xbox Series S, and X.

Expect More from this Open World and More

This open world puts players in control of some young adults as they travel away from the fictional world of Petria to escape being arrested by the evil dictator. To get to the border, the hitchhikers must find their way by hitchhiking, using boxes or taxis, walking, and even hijacking vehicles. Of course, stealing a car is much more fun than hailing a cab on Road 96.

However, every action has an even more significant consequence. Road 69 isn’t just a cheap replica of other open-world games; it is its experience with stunning visuals and some fun gameplay that keeps you hooked from start to finish.

A Gameplay That Keeps You Occupied and More

They must conquer the roadblocks, avoid mechanical breakdowns, and survive a few wild animals (and even some people). Road 96 isn’t just a fun and engaging game; it’s also brilliantly designed and packaged with interactive storytelling elements that make you feel like you’re watching a movie where you have complete control of the protagonist.

The sense of exploration combined with the high stakes for the characters makes for an experience both terrifying and thrilling. I was on edge at every turn of events but still wanted to explore more and discover what would happen next.

The Storyline Makes You Feel Like you’re a Part of the Gameplay.

It’s hard to find a game that is good and has a  compelling plot. Road 96 does just that by immersing you into its world, making you feel for the characters. One thing I like about this game is that while it has a great plot and storyline, most things are optional, so you could either choose to do things the easy way or the adventurous way.

There are various stops along the road that allow players to explore the game. The stops are procedurally generated and are opportunities for players to search for supplies, explore the world, or interact with the various NPCs in the game. Every action reduces your energy meter, with the higher tasks consuming the most of your energy. You must feed or sleep at the right spots to replenish your energy. If you dont take care of your welfare and your energy gets exhausted, you will be forced to pass out and consequently get arrested or killed.

The game’s economic system is quite simple. You can work for money, pay for services, buy goods, or steal from the game characters. There are many NPCs In the game,  but there are seven main characters to note. You can find mini-games after interacting with the characters for better insights into the gameplay. You can also acquire certain items that unlock various bonuses and opportunities.

The game’s plot reveals itself through your interactions with the NPCs. They will tell you all you need to know about the game throughout the road trip. You will learn more about the authoritarian nation you find yourself in and the election’s current stateion. Your decision will not only affect you and your friends, but they will also affect the character’s lives, as well as the outcome of the upcoming elections. Although the game is set in the nineties, the political events closely resemble the  Donald Trump regime.

Politics is a sensitive topic in Petria, and most game characters you will meet have their view on the subject matter. While the journalist may be against the authoritarian form of government,   the computer hacker doesn’t want any political structure. Some characters see it as the perfect leadership style. My favorite character,  and yet one of the most frustrating game characters, is Travis Bicklesque.

The Mechanics Are Fairly Simple But Still Manage to be Addicting

When escaping to the border, players could either get out of Patria or get caught and killed. Once a run is over, players will assume the role of another character. With each character change, you can view the game from a different perspective. While playing Road 96, I tried exploring as much of the storyline as possible. I made different choices and observed how my decisions affected everything around me.

The great thing about the character changes in the game is that you should be ready to expect anything at any time. These characters have different stories that make them unique and exciting. As you play on however, you’ll start seeing the connections between the characters. In my opinion, there was nothing as fun as unraveling the mysteries  surrounding Patria and its people. The characters are odd, but I always look forward to interacting with them.

Conclusion

if you’re looking for a video game with enough depth to keep you hooked till the end, Road 96 might be the perfect game for you. Get ready for the ride of your life with this exhilarating game that is easy to learn and hard to master. The graphics aren’t too flashy, and the sound effects are decent, making it really easy to pick up and play. The game also has a high replay value because there is a new character and different obstacles to encounter.
