Hero Zero is a free multiplayer RPG that puts you at the very center of the universe, dealing with villains and fighting crimes. You’re not just the regular superhero character, but one with missions that spread around the world. Your gadgets are not ordinary: they are equipped with features that make the most epic battles a funfair.
Single-player missions are riveting, but if you get tired of them, you can team up with other players on enthralling missions. There’s a leaderboard to climb as you fight against other players, giving you the opportunity to rise from nothing to become the most heroic player the world has ever seen.
Customization
The game offers extensive customization options for creating the hero or heroine you love. You can alter the character’s clothing and physical appearance – hairstyle, eye color, nose shape, eyebrows, and others. The in-game shop has a collection of clothing you can choose from. It also has different types of equipment that adorn your dress and serve as a useful resource for missions.
Storyline and Gameplay
Hero Zero has an incredibly fascinating storyline that makes gameplay engaging and funny. You start as a regular day-to-day guy who climbs the way up to become a hero. If you’re in for the ‘zero to hero’ or ‘bottom to top’ kind of stories, then this game is for you.
The world is full of criminal villains and your task is to clean up the streets and deliver justice, restoring peace and order. There are series of missions to complete, each with bonuses and level upgrades as reward and for every level you complete, you add to your heroism bar. After every mission, you get a text that describes the scenario of the next task.
You can build a formidable team with other players or join an existing one. From your headquarters, you team up to defeat the vilest of villains and the cruelest of criminals. For more excitement and intrigue, jump into multiplayer fights with other characters, and establish your global fame from there.
The downside of the gameplay is that you actually don’t engage in the missions. You just accept the task and wait for it to complete. The success depends on the character statistics, which can be upgraded by point purchases and item collections.
Missions are not the only thing you have to wait for. You get 100 energy supplies every day, and when you use that up, you have to wait for build-up. Otherwise, you have to fill the energy bar with ‘donuts,’ an item you can always get with real money. In between these waits, I connected with other players for a match. However, I still had to wait for one minute after every fight to get into the next. The ‘one-minute waits’ were to refill my ‘courage’ bar. If you don’t have so much patience to give, then Hero Zero might be a bore.
Combat has cool graphics, but that’s just about it…
Besides the many missions you have to undertake, there are also one-on-one fights with non-player characters. Hero Zero’s appealing graphics come to play in the combat scenes where you fight with other heroes and heroines. While you have no control over the characters’ actual moves, the automatic displays are fun to watch. These animations are not the best you can find out there, but quite impressive for a game of its type. There’s a ‘skip’ button for every fight scene if you want to move on quickly.
Combat is basically attacks and blocks, with no special moves or skill display. Emerging victorious at any fight earns you XP and cash, which you can use in the in-game shop.
Finally
The game is in the name, so if you like the ‘nothing to something’ story premise, Hero Zero is a promising play. Creating your hero or heroine from scratch, building a formidable team, and becoming the most terrific hero across the planet all make for good thrill. However, it’s important to consider how much time you’ll spend moving from one level to another. While the gameplay is quite simple to navigate, the amount of time you spend refilling your energy bar can be tiring.
