S4 League is a riveting MMO shooter game with attractive 3D graphics and anime-art. The game is a great mix of fantasy and sci-fi, with high-tempo music that perfectly blends with the game. S4 League handles narration from the third-person perspective, and the gameplay is similar to what you’ll find in GunZ: the Duel. What’s most remarkable about the game is the variety of weapons you have at your disposal. From rifles, snipers, heavy guns, to melee – the galore is tremendous.
Also remarkably, the S4 League has nine game modes, with each offering unique challenges and ultimately satisfying experiences. You can mount up to three weapons simultaneously and test your grit and skill in the various game modes. The maps in S4 League might not be the largest there is, but their tasks rank high up in challenge and demand. The game’s incredible pace ensures that you have a compelling playthrough – regardless of how many times you come back to it.
First things first
The game begins with a tutorial to take you through the basic architecture of the game. If it’s your very first time, you’ll have to learn how to perform basic moves like dashing, jumping, and leaping off walls. You’ll also learn how to switch weapons during combat and how to use the weapons. When you’re done with the tutorial, your journey begins on the real map – that’s when the game truly begins.
S4 Leauge presents you with fifteen maps you can choose from. The exciting thing about this arrangement is that these maps have different game modes, with some featuring more than one of the nine game modes available. Talking about the modes, each has its unique characteristics and design, with some more fascinating than the other. I particularly like the Touchdown (TD) Mode, which involves two opposing teams fighting to get a ball into the goal. The mode is modeled after American Football, and you have a break when players can change their gears and even get into another character. Each goal your team scores earns points, same as the kills and assists rendered.
While I find Touchdown most compelling, another completely enjoyable mode is Deathmatch (DM). In this interesting mode, you also have two teams of players in a pulsating battle for the highest points. While you have the teams in TD competing for points by scoring goals, DM will have you killing the opposing players for points. Even more intriguing is that you can play this mode in different maps, offering you thrilling mechanics every time.
One point of surprise in S4 League is that you have no list of classes to choose from. Instead, you can pick a major strength that will form the core of your gameplay. I like playing as the killing machine because it puts me at the forefront of decimating the enemies. You can also choose to take the more relaxed role of a supporting player or go all out as a super tank. When picking strength, consider the one that tallies with your skillset. Even when choosing weapons, you should go for the ones that match your ability. For example, it’s unadvisable to equip yourself with a gun when your shooting is terrible. A sword might be a better option in that regard.
How much are you willing to spend?
We all want a game that puts us all on equal ground and provides an equal ladder for us to climb to the top. But S4 League has no time to pander to our desires. Instead, it does not attempt to hide its framework that rewards heavily players ready to spend some real money. Now, the difference between a player who pay and those who don’t is so glaring. For example, you’ll only have redundant gears to deal with if you’re not ready to roll out some money.
S4 League has these things called ‘capsules.’ They typically contain special armor and weapons that enhance gameplay. Players can get some of these capsules as prizes for completing certain tasks in the game. But isn’t that a long road? Players don’t have to wait to earn them as they can buy these capsules.
One notable capsule is the G-Capsule, which contains some of the most sophisticated gear and equipment in all of S4 League. These gears give players unparalleled advantage both in offense and defense. So, if you aren’t ready to let some cash go, you have to go through the grueling experience of earning them via gameplay. That already puts you in a disadvantaged position when competing with other players that aren’t free-to-play.
Let’s talk about the music
If we move away from the unfair playing field to the amazing music, we can have a smile. When it comes to high-pitch techno music, S4 League is on a league of its own. The amazing anime-styled graphics just come to life with the incredible sound effect that accompanies every move. You’re going to be feeling like a superstar hero for most of the time.
When you evade that bullet and slide on walls like it’s no big deal all to the thrilling background music, it’s an incredible experience. That’s not all. The sound effects that come with the gunshots and use of every other weapon is another spell-bound-like fascination. What S4 League gives you are epic scenes over and over again.
How do we sum it all up?
S4 League is a compelling, fast-paced game with different game modes to give you enthralling playthroughs. The fascinating graphics are a sight to behold, and the great music complements that so well. Noteworthy also is the availability of various maps with unique set-ups and challenges. As enjoyable as the S4 League is, its pay-to-win architecture is a huge drawback. Without the willingness to spend money in the cash app, players put themselves in a disadvantaged position. The game will do better with that feature improved on.
