Godzilla Defense Force is an enthralling game with a simple architecture and storyline. Basically, your job is to stand up in defense of the world’s greatest cities from monstrous elements, ready to run it to the ground. The thrill is managing your base that provides all the needed resources and standing up to the devilish monsters. So, it might present with more captivating intrigue than it appears on the surface.
As a fan of Godzilla, this game is a treasure that offers plenty of things to explore. Even if the world of Godzilla is as strange as space, you can bet on it, turning you into a fan. Battling these creatures gets you collectible cards. The game features a Codex that lets you see information about every monster you battle using the cards. Now, let’s assume learning about these monsters isn’t really your thing; these cards still find use in tough battles, allowing you to launch deadly attacks. Even without these cards, fighting monsters in Godzilla Defense Force is an incredible experience.
A Completely Immersive Gameplay
It doesn’t matter how much time you spend playing the game; you leave with an exhilarating feeling of satisfaction. There’s so much to do in Godzilla Defense Force, all sandwiched between managing your base and fighting monsters. Many a time, you’ll find your fingers fiddling the screen of your device without a break. But the excitement the content offers brushes off any possibility of a tire.
What you won’t have to deal with in this game are frustrating wait times. Instead, you have a never-ending release of monsters, elevating the ecstasy every minute of the game. The only time you get to pause combat is when you embark on a journey to a new city. But these journeys don’t last forever, and soon, you’re back to the engaging combat. Speaking of combat, there’s always a chance to deal a final blow after it’s done and settled, you’ve defeated the monster.
It’s Your Job To Build
In Godzilla Defense Force, every city you walk into is a fresh start. There are no structures or architecture on the ground. You have to start building and quickly stamp your presence in town, and that’s no easy task. You know monsters are breathing down the city residents’ necks, and you’re their only savior. With a team known as the Earth Defense Force, you have to jump into the task of protecting the city quickly.
In setting up a base, you have to get several units up and running. The screen provides a base management section where you can control every activity. Money is an important part of the game as it helps you build a stronger and more robust base. You can fill your purse by taking up tasks and completing certain objectives. Interestingly, defeating enemies and warding off attacks also earn you some money. But most of these fights don’t come easy, especially when you have a thirty-second window to do the job. I had to swallow the bitter pills of defeat in the first couple of fights I had. But once I got the hang of the game, it was a complete thrill.
There’s a tutorial in the beginning to help. This tutorial has test fights to help you learn the basics of combat in Godzilla Defense Force. But you’ll still need to learn from actual fights once the game begins proper. Losing a fight isn’t the end of the world. You get a second chance to take the same fight. You can also choose to beef up your base and get some vital items from the in-game shop. However, since fight outcomes largely depend on the state of your base, exploring one of the other two options seems to be a better choice.
A Promise To Beat Your Expectation
There are many strategy games out there, and Godzilla Defense Force might seem like another unremarkable addition to the large pool. But a single playthrough will give you a divergent opinion as it gave to me. With several base management games under my belt, it’s quite easy to say Godzilla Defense Force is the most addictive I’ve played. There are many reasons for this conclusion, but the fact that you have a constant supply of monsters to battle sits atop the list.
Its greatest strength, unarguably, is the engaging design. Although progression is a lot faster with in-game packs for sale, you can grind your way through without spending a dime.
Verdict
Godzilla Defense Force will fare better if the environment didn’t look so similar or if the graphics were spectacular. However, the game is an incredible piece of work offering thoroughly-enjoyable gameplay. The storyline works just fine and there’s so much to do in the game that you’d sweat to find anything more addictive in the genre.
