After being in the development process for more than two years, Global Offensive was finally released around 2012, and another version was made available two years later. The initial versions of the game were available for various devices and operating systems such as Windows, Mac, PlayStation, and Xbox. The version that was released in 2014 was available for use in Linux OS. Global Offensive is fourth on the list of the Counter-Strike series. This thrilling action video game was developed by Valve Corporation in collaboration with Hidden Path Entertainment, which has partnered with Valve for the development of the game. The game was published by Valve Corporation in 2012 and has since gained popularity and recognition by action game lovers.

The game can be grouped into the first-person shooter genre, and it plays in multiplayer mode. Global Offensive is an improvement on the earlier games featured in the Counter-Strike series. Some updates, modifications, improvements, additions, and deductions were noticed in the global offensive series.

Instead of the regular red-colored themes used in the previous installments, there was a variation in the colors used colors the Global Offensive theme.

Game Objectives

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is a really competitive game that involves players embarking on different tasks and missions with the aim of winning the rounds, being the champions of the game. In order to achieve their objectives, players in the game can buy an assortment of weapons, ammunition, and other equipment necessary for the missions. It is also important to note that this game is rated 18+, due to the fact that the game involves violent scenes, and part of the game objectives includes killing or harming innocent persons.

Playing the Game

The players are divided into two teams, one is a terrorist, and the other is a counter-terrorist team. As a competitive game, both themes will set out to defeat each other in a series of game rounds. Both teams will be given a set of tasks to complete while trying to kill the opposing team. Some of the common tasks you will encounter while playing the game include planting a bomb (for the terrorists) or defusing a bomb (for the counter-terrorists). Immediately each round begins, players are allowed to buy arms with the money awarded to them in the previous rounds.

Winning the Rounds, Match, and Game

Teams play these game rounds. Thirty rounds make up a game, and three to five games make up a match. There are a total of thirty rounds for each game, where both teams are expected to play against each other. Only one team can win each round, subject to completing the set objectives for the round. For any of the teams to win the game, they must have won over half of the rounds. However, players do not stop at just winning the game. They also aim at winning the entire match. To win the match, players must either win two games (if the match consists of three games), or win at least three games if the match consists of five games.

Weapons in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

One of my favorite things about Counter-Strike Global Offensive action is the fact that the game provides different kinds of weapons and equipment for the players. Some of the weapons available in the game are knives, pistols, rifles, assault and heavy rifles, grenades, SMGs, and protective gears. These weapons and items are available in different kinds and quality. Other weapons and equipment that are available in the danger zone include axes, hammers, wrenches, shields, mines, bombs, parachutes, etc. When playing the game, ensure that you select and use these weapons based on the set objectives for the rounds you are playing.

Game Modes Available in Global Offensive

Global Offensive is a multiple player game that has a variety of modes. You will find eight game modes in Counter-Strike global offensives. Here are some of the game modes available in Counter-Strike global offensive.

  • Classic Mode: The classical game mode has two aspects which are the casual and competitive modes. This mode involves planting bombs, diffusing bombs, and rescuing hostages. There is also the wingman aspect in this mode.
  • The next mode is the ‘war games’ mode, which involves the demolition of buildings, arms race, and air missions.
  • ‘Missions’ mode has two main scenarios, which include fighting off bots or fighting terrorists who are controlled by the computer system.
  • Other modes available in the game include the ‘death match’ and danger zone modes.

Factions/Groups in the Game

The major groups in the game are divided into terrorists and counter-terrorists. These two groups are further divided into more minor factions, depending on the mode of the game or the match you are playing. There are also the agent factions and cut factions which are also subdivided into different groups.

Matchmaking System

One of the newest improvements included in Counter-Strike global support is the matchmaking support system. In this system, the players have the opportunity to play on different game servers. In this system, you can play in different game modes available. One of the latest additions in the game modes in the matchmaking system Is the battle royal and danger zone game modes. The servers in the matchmaking system are community hosted and contain maps for easy progression of the game.

Verdict

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is quite popular among gamers and has attracted millions of players every month since its release. This is as a result of the different improvements made to the game. The game also has different versions that are regularly updated.

The game restricts players of certain ages. This is due to the nature of the game; players below eighteen years are not allowed to play the game. Also, the game objectives set for some of the teams involved in the game (terrorists) contain some ‘not so moral’ tasks such as killing innocent civilians, bombing locations, kidnapping and hostage situations, etc.
