Recently released on June 25, 2021, Mario Golf: Super Rush is the sixth installment in the Mario Golf series. The video game which was developed by the franchise’s creators, Camelot Software Planning, was published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch Console and is the next in the series after Mario Golf: World Tour, the fifth installment in the franchise, which was released nearly six years earlier. As is consistent with its predecessors in the series, Mario Golf: Super Rush is a golf video game that features the iconic video game characters from the Mario franchise as they compete against each other in golf.
Mario Golf: Super Rush was first announced by Nintendo via the platform’s famous inline presentation, Nintendo Direct, in February 2021. Impressively, the release came not too long after, allowing players to see what else they have added to Mario’s world of golfing and friendly competition.
The Adventures Mario Brings
Adhering as strictly as possible to the basic and traditional rules of good old golf, Mario Golf: Super Rush gives its players simple enough primary objectives — players must get the ball into each hole and they must do this with the different golf clubs provided for them and the lowest amount of strokes that they can manage. The basic gameplay found in Mario Golf: Super Rush is easily comparable to that of its predecessors in the entire Mario Golf series.
The basic rules also depict that whichever player ends up finishing the game with the lowest number of strokes taken is declared the winner of the match. This verdict also depends on the context of the competition. There is quite an impressive number of tools provided for players when playing Mario Golf: Super Rush. The game also gives players the conventional button control system with which they can take shots, as well as a motion control system to simulate the actual act of hitting the ball with a swing as one would in a real-life golf game.
Explore Golf Like Never Before
Mario Golf: Super Rush has come with a bang in more ways than one. This new installment features five modes — the Standard Golf mode, the Speed Golf mode, the Solo Challenge, the Battle Golf mode, and the Golf Adventure mode. While the extensive list of tools and equipment is eye-catching enough, the newly added modes are created specifically for multiplayer games and are also a great place to start fawning over the game.
Speed Golf is one of the newly included modes and features the golf players simultaneously playing in a race to complete the holes before their opponents do. When a player swings, they run across the course towards their ball and get ready to take their next shot. This is done while dealing with other players as well as the environmental obstacles placed in the various terrains as each character has a set of unique abilities called special dashes and special shots to get them ahead. With the right combination of special dashes and special shots, players can battle and outplay each other to the best of their abilities.
The second newly added mode is the Battle Golf. While this mode technically resembles Speed Golf, it differs in the kind of arena upon which players are required to play. Players must battle for one of nine holes available on the map in a bid to sink the ball in any 3 of the 9 holes.
Other additions include the Story mode called the Golf Adventure, in which players can create their own Mii character and start developing their golf skills. The previously present modes include the Standard Golf which works with basic golf settings — the player with the lowest strokes wins and up to four players can play either by taking turns or playing through at the same time. The Solo Challenge mode has one player.
Unlocking Tools And Equipment
In every area of Golf Adventure, players will find a shop that provides them with different, eye-catching golf equipment. Each of these items is unique in its own way in that it either provides players with a special stat buff or works by minimizing the negative effects of the various course obstacles. Each mode comes with its own limitations, including the number of clubs you can carry as a player.
In the adventure mode, players are only allowed to carry a maximum of seven clubs while playing on each course. Therefore, it is important to choose the best clubs wisely depending on the obstacles the courses in question present. Other equipments provided in the game include the Range finder which helps you determine the distance between yourself and the target, the Super Mushroom Driver which is a club that lets you cover great distances and even some pretty interesting stamina attire.
The long list of equipment and attires also includes a Cool Attire that lets you conserve water during speed golf, desert shoes that reduce the loss of speed in difficult terrain, a pokey sand wedge that helps increase the swing in bunkers, and a lightning attire that reduces lightning damage in Wildweather Woods. Players can also get a heat attire to beat the cold in the appropriate scenarios, as well as clubs that can counter the effects and damages of the terrains being played on.
