Dodgeball Academia: Schooling and Dodgeball Sports Just Got Interesting.

Until recently, dodgeball sports weren’t featured in games. Hence, I was very excited when I came across Dodgeball Academia. Coming from Pocket Trap, I expected nothing but perfection. Dodgeball academia was published by Humble Games and is available on different platforms, including Xbox One and Series X, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4.

The game Dodgeball Academia lets you feel the thrill of playing an RPG game while giving you the experience of playing dodgeball. The role-playing game keeps you on your toes as you await what comes next after each chapter. Dodgeball gives players a complete high school sports experience. 

Unraveling the Mystery of Legendary Academy 

In Dodgeball Academia, players take on the role of a student at the fictional school of Legendary Academy. The story follows the life of Otto, a new student at the academy who has big dreams of becoming a world-renowned dodgeball champion. Otto is trying to prove that leaving his former school to this premier dodgeball sports school is the best decision. He does all he can to prove that he has what it takes to win the tournament. Upon coming to the school, Otto unlocks his superpowers by touching the academy’s magical ball, which is a retrieved item from the “Great Dodgeball War.”

Since he can’t achieve his dreams on his own, he has to recruit and train players to become a part of his team. Otto is then tasked with team-building exercises. Otto has to train his dodgeball team of misfits to defeat his competitors in the dodgeball league. Many things happen along the line as Otto and his team practice to get better at playing dodgeball. These crazy adventures are what shaped the game and also helped to expand the protagonist’s team.

Eight Chapters, Eight New Experiences and Adventures 

Dodgeball Academia is divided into eight different chapters. The eight chapters are the story of life at Legendary Academy. Chapter one is more of a tutorial, which enables new players to understand the game better and learn how to navigate the school grounds. The real fun begins in chapter two, where you can start exploring the school and neighboring grounds. You would also need to recruit a team of players who will help you win the dodgeball tournament. 

Players have to engage in a variety of activities to get their team ready for victory. They can hang out with friends on campus, participate in dodgeball tournaments outside the school, or attend classes where they can study new skills and abilities. Players must utilize strategy to win games against other schools and the dodgeball championship. There are so many treasures players can find within and outside of the school. To earn more scores, players can take part in random school fights or finish different side and story quests. Use the in-game maps or menus to navigate the game, and learn new tricks and tips in class. The game has many RPG elements, which make it more than just an average dodgeball game. You can level up, collect items, and even complete side quests to get even more experience points in the game.

Dodgeball Academia is designed for players aged 13-17, but players of any age can play the game, as it does not contain any violent or vulgar scenes. The game contains a chat feature where any player can talk to any other online player at any time. Dodgeball Academia also encourages creativity by providing players with opportunities to develop their avatars, skills, and stories. Dodgeball Academia is a great game with very little, to some extent, negligible flaws. The game can be complicated at first, but once you learn the mechanics of the game, it’s really fun to play.

Dodgeball Academia Gameplay – Taking the Battle to the School Field 

The gameplay is an RPG with combat phases where you battle against opponents within and outside the academy. Players can customize Otto’s skill set by choosing to use different weapons in battle. This game is unlike any other RPG. You start as Otto, a student who is trying to win the dodgeball tournament. It has all the tropes of any good RPG – multiple characters, in-game quests, plenty of tools at your disposal, and many more items. Dodgeball Academia is set in a world where the fighting is done through dodgeball instead of guns or swords. You have to train your team, buy tools, and level up.

Although it is played in real-time, the dodgeball games you play in Dodgeball academia aren’t so much like the typical dodgeball matches you are familiar with. The game’s primary objective is to reduce your opponent’s health, but the game gets a lot more intense once you unlock each character’s special abilities. As you level up, your characters’ stats will increase, and you will gain more augments that will improve the skills of the team members. 

Combining the Right Skills and Powers to Win the Tournament 

Every character has a unique superpower that is very helpful during dodgeball games. For instance, Otto has a strong attack skill set that deals serious blows against the team’s opponents, and some characters have healing powers that can heal teammates whenever they take a hit. Some other characters even have superpowers that can make the curve and serve as a boomerang. Ultimately, the right combination of the powers makes your dodgeball team unstoppable. 

In Dodgeball Academia, you can control up to three teammates at a time. When choosing your teammates, you should consider the powers and abilities of each character you choose. While some combinations are poor and easily defeated, others are strong and can easily defeat opponents. My favorite character combinations are the combination of an attacker, a defender, and a healer. 

Conclusion

Dodgeball Academia is similar to some RPG games like Pokémon and Super Mario Brothers with its storyline and gameplay. It has an interesting storyline that can keep you hooked for hours. Dodgeball Academia is also filled with quests that make it feel like an action RPG game.
