Who better understands the darkness of the human mind than a person with the ability to read minds and emotions? Managing emotions just got complicated as we follow the daily life of Alex In  Life Is Strange: True Colors. Deck Nine introduced more drama and twists in this series. Square Enix published this single-player adventure video game. It was released on 10 September 2021. The game is available on multiple platforms, including Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, and Stadia. It will also be available on Nintendo Switch from December 7th, 2021.

Unleashing the Supernatural Powers of Emotions Manipulation

In the third game, Alex returns home (Haven Springs, Colorado) to reunite with her older brother Gabe. Before returning home, she has been in the foster system for a long time. She plans to lead a new and quiet life in her hometown, but things take a different turn after she gets entangled in a web of deceit, cover-up, and gross misconduct. She lost someone dear to her heart, and she now has to fight the biggest and most powerful companies in town. Life is Strange: True Colors is all about justice and retribution.

Upon returning to Colorado, Alex had decided to hide her gift in a bid to live a normal life. She is forced to embrace her powers once more after her brother gets killed in an accident at his Workplace. She needs to manipulate emotions to uncover the truth about Gabe’s death. Things get crazier after she learns of a previous occurrence that took the life of many workers at the company (Typhon). While scouting the location of the accident, she realizes that her father was also killed in the accident. Alex is now on a mission to get to the roots of the whole issue. She needs to expose those behind the deaths to bring justice for her older brother, her father, and all who had been killed.

True Colors Takes a New Turn, Independent of Others

Contrary to my expectations, the storyline in Life is Strange: True Colors is relatively independent of the first two games in the series. I expected the return of some of the major characters like Max, Sean, Rachel, and Daniel. Surprisingly, none of these protagonists were featured in the game, except when Mikey and Steph recalled a conversation they had with Chloe and Rachel. Mikey North’s appearance was, however, one that I expected.

Things take a twisted turn after some of the characters we saw in the trailer were exposed to being a part of the game’s antagonists. While I expected something like that, I was shocked to find out the identity of these antagonists. I also expected the return of Mike Jefferson in Life is Strange: True Colors as the main antagonist, but I was proven wrong when Alex was made to fight the biggest company Typhon instead. However, Mike made a minor appearance in the bonus story.

The plot in Life is Strange: True Colors is unexpected. Many things we expected to happen turned out differently, with only a few things happening as we thought. The ending plot was not different from the previous games, as Deck Nine created four alternate endings. Life is Strange: True Colors doesn’t only feature a new protagonist but also a new power and a new game plot.

Five Chapters, Five Stories, Unlimited Suspense

Life is Strange: True Colors features five mind-blowing chapters and an equally intriguing bonus story. Although you can separately play the chapters one at a time, you can also download and play all the chapters in a blow. They are all available, which is great since you don’t have to wait after playing one chapter. Each episode has its clear objectives, and the suspense at the end of the chapters is sure to keep you on your toes. I noticed that new chapters in Life is Strange: True Colors don’t feature a recap at the beginning of a new chapter. The difference is probably because all chapters are available, which makes a recap unnecessary.

Perfect Depiction of The Colorado Scenery

Life is Strange: True Colors captured the stunning Colorado views. The scenery is superb. You will love everything, including the snowy mountains, the wooden bridge that connects the bus stop to the main town. There is also a beautiful stream that flows through the town and colorful flowers everywhere you go. I can’t compare the views in Life is Strange: True Colors to any other game in the series. It’s just so beautiful and so Colorado.

Choosing Your Romantic Interests

The romance in True Colors is more impressive as it shows more life and action than the previous games. Alex has two possible romantic options (a male and a female), which means you get to choose her sexuality. You also have the option to reject both prospects and remain single. Although the other two games also gave players the chance to select one of two romantic prospects, Life is Strange: True Colors gives players more freedom in this department. Unlike the previous games, there is no bias, and you won’t feel like you are being forced to prefer one prospect to another. The two prospects Ryan and Steph, have equal fighting chances. The decision was a very tough one to make for me, as I had to consider their advantages and disadvantages carefully. I strongly considered staying single at some point.

Conclusion

If you are searching for a game that effectively captures the drama, unexpected twists, loyalty, romance, and a need for justice all in one package, Life is Strange: True Colors is a sure bet for you. Follow the complicated life of Alex as she tries to live her life as she fights the strongest powers in town. The game has an in-depth plot with so many unexpected plots, additions, and subtractions.
