What do you do when you find yourself stranded in a land where the gods who are supposed to protect you and be the heroes become the villains of your world? That’s precisely what it is in Praey for the Gods. This game was published and developed by indie developers No Matter Studios. It was released on December 14th, 2021, for PC and PS4 consoles. Praey for the gods is an exploratory survival horror game that focuses heavily on narrative exploration without editing scenes or dialogue. The game received many positive reviews from critics, as it was praised for its gameplay, art direction, story, and atmosphere.

You Can’t Pray to the Gods; You’re Just a Prey

Praey for the gods had me hooked from start to finish. The game sets in the post-apocalyptic future, where your world is plagued with an unending downpour of snow. The gods seem to be silent or unaware of the present doom. You go on a quest to consult the gods, only to find out that the same gods are responsible for the problems in the lands. You have to survive a challenging but adventurous journey across the city, uncovering the secrets of what happened to humanity.

Upgrading Weapons to Defeat the Bosses

The main character in Praey for the Gods is a young lady who has to defeat numerous gods to restore the old city’s weather conditions. To achieve her goal, she must stop the continuous winter epidemic in the land. She has a slight build and is very little compared to the sizes of gods she fights. But don’t let that fool you into thinking she can’t handle herself in combat. She is skilled with her sword, and she can also use her battle-ax and throw various runes and weapons at enemies. Of course, since she isn’t invincible, you must make her stronger after each battle. You will upgrade her abilities by finding certain items throughout your journey.

Incredible Gameplay and Easy Mechanics

Praey for the Gods is a first-person adventure title that takes inspiration from great titles like The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Dark Souls. You’ll have an open world to explore, and there are plenty of different tasks you can complete. For example, you can find artifacts, set up campfires, fish in rivers, or hunt for food. There’s also a crafting system and character progression mechanic so you can grow stronger as you play through.

The game mechanics are easy to understand and relatively simple. The primary actions include basic movement, shooting, and a special attack which you can unlock later in the game. You also have an inventory that gives you access to weapons and tools. There is not much else added within Praey for The Gods, as it seems that it focuses more on providing an experience rather than a challenge or difficulty.

Lots of Adventures and Skills

Fear Not, Adventurer! : Throughout your journey, you’ll encounter numerous shrines. These serve as a resting point, replenishing your health and granting you access to a special ability that activates with L1/R1. The powers are varied, and there are numerous upgrades to be found throughout – not only do they help keep you alive longer, but they also give a fascinating insight into each character’s personality. Often these abilities are powerful enough to turn battle in your favor, such as Korg and Aella’s skills which will stun all nearby enemies, forcing them back and giving you precious time to escape or reposition enemy fire. Once upgraded enough, you can activate Fury Mode using R2, which will wipe out any enemies within reach while dramatically reducing incoming damage – allowing you just enough time to flee.

This game features many different weapons, abilities, and items to help you survive. But it also has moments where you can choose how much violence is too much for your conscience by making decisions that will eventually affect the story’s ending.

Exploring The Maze

After a terrifying crash landing, you awaken to find yourself in a dark and ominous cave. As you make your way through its winding tunnels, you discover that ancient creatures dwell deep below, feeding on our world’s most vulnerable minds. You must avoid their gaze to stay out of sight, using what little light is at your disposal.

You Can Play Multiple Times

Praey for The Gods has a replay value. You can play through multiple times and still get unique experiences each time. Each area felt terrific, with great depth. You could try out the game for the first time to understand how to deal with the Gods. You also learn to improve your skills. One of the most notable parts that varied greatly was how difficult each area became as time went on. While I enjoyed exploring

The gameplay is divided into two distinct phases. While you explore the environment to find clues, fight off powerful creatures, and solve puzzles, there are periods when you must return to your shelter to replenish your supplies or activate new devices to progress.

Realistic Graphics and Engaging Combats

The game focuses on combat, exploration, story, an atmospheric soundtrack, and graphics. The best thing about this game is the graphics – it will suck you straight into the environment. And when you start playing, you will find that it doesn’t take too much time before you get hooked on it! It also gets hard at times, so prepare yourself for some challenging moments in this game!

Many game enthusiasts described it as a mix between an RPG and a survival game. It has some horror elements, but it never feels too overbearing or scary. There were still moments that had me on edge, though, like when I walked into a room filled with dead bodies or when I came across some strange creature in the woods at night.

Conclusion

Praey for the Gods has so much depth to its gameplay, art style, and story that you’ll be spending hours trying to find all of the hidden endings and characters within the game, making it well worth your time! It combines a perfect mix of horror and survival mechanics. If you are looking for something with extensive gameplay experience, I would recommend playing Praey for The Gods.
