Elden Ring is an open-world action-adventure RPG game developed by FromSoftware and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment in February 2022. The game was created in collaboration with Fantasy novel mastermind and George R. R. Martin – the author of The Song of Ice and Fire novel series. This RPG action game is currently available on MS Windows, PS 4, PS 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Series S platforms.

FromSoftware Introduces More Battle and Fiercer Combats

Elden Ring is the third game created by Hidetaka Miyazaki, the director of games such as Dark Souls and Bloodborne. This game takes elements from both games and adds new features to improve the gameplay system. The game setting is an open world with drastic weather changes. Players can explore the game’s setting and take on quests anytime they please. The only real restriction is that you’ll need to complete certain quests before you can access certain areas of the map.

The game features some of the best graphics and combat systems ever seen in games to date, but it feels like it lacks something that could make it even better. Although Elden Ring is similar to games like Dark Souls in many ways, the gameplay is more extended and takes more than fifty hours to complete, unlike the other games that players could complete within twenty hours.

The Fate of the World Lies in the Hands of The Tarnished

The Lands Between has been in trouble since the Elden ring was destroyed. The story is that the ring was broken, with big and small pieces scattered around the land. Queen Marika is nowhere to be found, while her mischievous children (the demigods) have taken over the world. Each power-drunk demigod possesses a ring piece, but it isn’t enough as they want more power.

The Tarnished were previously exiled from The Lands Between, but they must return to reunite the rings and bring back order to the land. Their journey won’t be easy, as they will encounter many enemies trying to sabotage their missions. You play as one of the Tarnished, who is on a mission to restore the rings and become the Elden Lord as a reward. Yours is a story of brutality, savage killings, and tough choices.

Through the gameplay, you must take Merina to the base of the Erdtree to fulfill her destiny. She will help you throughout your journey as you discover more twists and turns to the story. You must fight the demigods and the Tarnished warrior to retrieve the runes.

Stunning Visuals that Draws You Into the Game’s World

It’s tough to appreciate a game without great visuals, even when the gameplay is outstanding. Without visuals, there is no immersion in a game. Thankfully, Elden Ring didn’t disappoint players in this aspect as it has visually stunning graphics. It captures every moment with its diverse and well-executed imagery. The designers used perfect lighting to create depth within each scene, making you feel like you are in the world witnessing the events unfold. Within every aspect of Elden Ring’s graphical representation, it has captured an essence that allows you to lose yourself in it.

Additionally, the sheer beauty of every character, background, and detail make it incredibly easy to get lost in its art style. Every detail captures the essence of the game’s plot. There isn’t a single moment throughout my experience where I didn’t notice how great everything looked. Yes, most scenes were horrific, but they were carefully designed to help you relate more to the game. I couldn’t stop taking screenshots of my favorite scenes.

Detailed Tutorials to Keep You Informed

Elden Ring, like most fantasy games before it, Elden Ring offers an old-a c tutorial, you can communicate with the ghost, and he’ll tell you to jump down. You can see the training area where the tutorial takes place when you move closer to the edge of the mountain. If you choose to jump down, the system will guide you through the basic game mechanics and controls, start quests, and how to use your powers.

Meeting Your Fellow Tarnished Characters

The game showcases many characters, each with its backstory and motives. It means that while they are all working towards a common goal (to kill all God-Creatures), they have different perspectives on why and how they should do so. This makes for a lot of exciting conversation among them and with you. My favorite part about these characters was discovering more about them through interactions within in-game objects or locations such as letters, books, or clippings.

So Many Areas Available for Exploration

Elden Ring begins with players exploring with only a limited exploration space, as most areas are still locked. However, as the game progresses, the Lands Between becomes open for exploration. There are six major areas in the Land Between, and all the game areas are connected to a central hub. Each area has unique features and designs that perfectly represent classical buildings. Expect to find beautiful castles and fortresses, all with exceptional designs as you journey across the Lands.

To explore the Lands Between, you can use your horse, the primary means of transportation when you aren’t moving on foot. If you need to reach your destination faster than the horse can carry you, opt for any faster travel system for a price, of course.

Meeting with Friends and Foes During Exploration

As you explore the lands, you will meet many NPCs that you can interact with and get information on different matters. These NPCs aren’t the only characters that move in the land. You will come across even more enemies who are out for your head. Hence, you must destroy them before they kill you.

Some bosses lurk around the areas, which means you don’t have to enter the dungeons to find them. These bosses are the demigods ruling the area, and you should always make sure that you are well prepared before attempting combat with them.

Conclusion

Like any other game made by FromSoftware, Elden Ring is known for its brutality and exhilarating combats. The game offers a fresh take on classic action gameplay and embraces combat. It is a pure adrenaline rush from start to finish and has a unique mechanic, with each area holding a different boss or enemy that reminds you of the characters in the Dark Souls series.
