Have you ever wondered what it would feel like to zoom across space, leaving hundreds of destroyed spaceships in your wake? Then, you should check out this amazing game. Chorus is a third-person space combat game developed by Deep Silver Fishlabs and published by Deep Silver in December 2021. If you have played and loved games like FreeSpace, Elite Dangerous, and Oolite, you should check out this game. Chorus is available on multiple platforms including MS Windows, PS 4 and 5, Stadia, Luna, Xbox One, Series X, and S.

Exploring Different Worlds with Nara

The game’s protagonist is called Nara, who is the captain of her spaceship – Forsaken – players can arm the starcraft with a variety of deadly weapons including cannons, guns, and missile launchers. Chorus is an open-world game that allows you to complete various adventurous quests through space. As you embark on the quests, you will come across many amazing ancient temples where you must solve some puzzles to achieve your aims. Your character will gain some aether powers that improve your combat skills and abilities. Chorus is a galactic fantasy game almost any space combat gamer will enjoy.

Makes You Feel like You’re in a Movie Scene

Deep Silver presented the gameplay in a dramatic manner that makes it feel like you are a part of the game. You will feel the thrills as you run around the battlefield dodging enemy spacecraft. There I also the rush of excitement each time you take out a spaceship with your out-of-this-world weapons. I always get that feeling of fulfillment each time I bring down stubborn enemy ships.

It’s an amazing experience as you watch how you gradually destroy some spaceships, tearing them piece by piece until every bit of it is scattered across space. You could fly over a falling enemy ship, which by the way, is a great experience every time. Zooming across burning ships is a gameplay act that is never boring no matter how many times you try. It always feels like the first time.

As you move around the planets, you get to appreciate the game’s graphics, as the designers perfectly captured the essence of a typical space combat environment. Every area in every dimension has a unique design that simply draws you in. Try not to get lost in sight though, there’s probably a massive ship trying to destroy you from behind.

The beautiful graphics and exciting actions aren’t the only features that will capture your attention as you play this amazing game. It’s fun to watch your ship zoom across different dimensions to chase enemies or escape them as the case may be. The asteroids are so realistic that it makes you feel like you suddenly landed in space with Nara. Even when you eventually get your teleporting skills, exploration remains one of the most amazing experiences in the gameplay.

The gameplay Features Many Challenging Battles

As you should expect from any good space combat game, Chorus features many missions that involve shooting down enemy aircraft or escaping attacks. While the mission objectives sound like a lot of fun, the actual gameplay is more ruthless as you would often find that your enemies are either faster or have better weapons than you. If you get a mission to destroy a certain number of ships, you must be quick to stop your enemies from getting to you.

Some of the game’s missions would require you to save some spaceships from enemy attacks. These missions would mean entering enemy lines to save your allies. You must be careful as you fly through the battlefront. You must avoid hits at all costs because you will fail the mission if the enemies succeed in attacking you. You restart the level each time you fail a mission or when the enemy destroys Forsaken. The most annoying part of restarting the mission is that you must repeat the cut scenes, the dialogues, and preparations.

Some of the missions are timed, while the others require you to complete a certain objective. Sometimes protective missions can be frustrating when the NPCs are not cooperating or when they are going out of your line of vision. They mostly get caught and destroyed, forcing you to restart the game. No matter the nature of the mission assigned to you, you’re sure to smile when you receive the rewards and loots you earned during the battles. When you want more loots than what you get for completing missions, you could always go for the side missions that offer much loot.

A Storyline that has it All`

Chorus combines different themes and genres to create a single adventure. Firstly, there is the space combat genre that provides the third-person shooter experience. There is also the exploration theme that lets you go across the different dimensions while learning new things, Chorus has a historical theme and some religious and spiritual undertones that give the game a unique vibe. The puzzle theme involves strategic thinking skills that push you away from the continuous battle runs.

Your character – Nara – has a history of religious extremism. She was a god-like leader of a group of religious fanatics who believed that the only way to cleanse the earth is by killing the majority of its inhabitants. Nara was a stunt believer of these beliefs, and she took many unspeakable actions towards cleansing the earth. It was only after the deed had been done that the weight of her actions registered in her head. She ran away from her past and tries to find a new purpose after her followers presumed that she was dead. Although Nara defected from her cult, she couldn’t let go of her violent and emotionless nature which comes in handy for every mission.

Conclusion

Although it has its flaws, Chorus is an enjoyable game that keeps you wondering what the next level will look like. The game design flawlessly combines puzzles with combat to provide a great gaming time for players. While Chorus may seem overwhelming at first, it would only take a few minutes of exploration to understand the gameplay. The missions are tough, but the boss fights are much tougher. The overall gameplay however provides a thrilling experience.
