What makes an action game unique is its ability to get gamers invested in the game. As a gamer, this is the first thing I look for when playing any game. High On Life gets you involved with its personal gaming experience. The game features talking weapons including living guns and sentient knives. Its unique take on shooter adventure makes the game fun to play for all. The game was developed and published by Squanch Games. It was also released in December 2022 on Windows, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S. The game was widely accepted by other gamers, and I’m a living testimony of that.

High on Life Lets Talk with Your Weapon

High on Life is a first-person shooter video game with an action-adventure element. Players are tasked with assassinating select targets and must fight their way into the target’s domain and then fight the targets in boss combat, after eliminating everything on the way. Players attack using living alien weapons, five living guns called “Gatlians” and one deadly knife. The guns have primary, alternate, and special “trick hole” firing modes that can be used in battles. The knife has an additional grapple ability that allows players to use ziplines to move around the world. Weapon specials are also used to solve puzzles and gain access to certain areas in serene scenarios.

During the course of the game, players can add to their abilities and upgrade their powers by purchasing abilities at shops or unlocking them in hidden chests in the game’s world. As you make new purchases, you can access unreachable locations and enter exclusive places. High on Life is also a platformer and puzzle game thanks to the puzzle section players are required to solve when it comes to using certain weapons and entering social circles where you can interact with different characters.

Intense Gameplay that Somehow Provides Comic Relief

During their parents’ trip, your character and their sister are preparing for a wild party at home when things take an unexpected turn. They witness an alien attack and find a small alien on one of the attackers and found out that they were able to communicate with him. The little alien introduced himself as Kenny and warns them of an invasion by Garmantuous and the G3 Cartel who plan to turn humans into drugs. Together, the player and Kenny escape Earth by warping their house to Blim City.

High on Life is featured in a fast-paced world and is named after a store in the game’s city, where aggression and intensity are the order of the day. The game’s actions are crazy, they are just too good. From rapid shooting to massive takedowns, the action is beyond this world. As a first-person shooter game, you can’t miss anything there. The game allows you to see all the action, and not only that, it’s like you are experiencing it in real-time.

Modern Setting with a Touch of Alien Invasion Theme

The game’s storyline sets it apart. In the game, I played as an assassin tasked with the responsibility of killing certain targets. As I continued, I was drawn to the story. I felt like a hero, taking out the bad guys. The story is a modern one, players have to be accurate in order to fulfill their missions. A little slip-up could get them killed. After you have taken out the guards, there is the boss to deal with. This adds to the overall experience.

Complex and Realistic Challenges

Another feature of High on Life that I like is the way the game presents real challenges that you have to overcome in order to succeed. For example, you need to manage your inventory carefully in order to avoid running out of bullets and getting stuck. You also have to deal with difficult challenges, like how to enter a certain region quietly without being known or seen. These challenges feel very real and provide a level of depth and complexity to the game that keeps things interesting.

Stunning Graphics, Easy Interface, All Make For A Beautiful Experience

The graphics of High On Life are beautiful, exceptional, and excellent. The graphics are not too flashy but well-detailed. You can’t miss any of the actions thanks to the graphics. The visuals are good, the game’s colors blend well, and the sound effects are also worth noting. All of these add to the overall experience of this amazing masterpiece. One part of the graphics I love so much is the boss battles. They are unique, the slow motion when you hit a target is beyond this world. The creators of the game have done a perfect job.

But what really sets High on Life apart, in my opinion, is its interface. The game is incredibly user-friendly, with a clean and modern design that makes it easy to navigate. Everything is clearly labeled and easy to find. The interface of the game is simple and easy to use. They are easy and get you right into the game immediately. There’s a target bar there for aiming, and the menu setup is simple as well. As a new player, the interface immediately familiarizes you with the game, it is impossible for you to get stuck.

Every Aspect of the Game Comes Alive

One of my standout moments of the game is the boss battle. The combat is intense, the actions are fast, the bosses are on a rampage, and their damage can be very impactful. Each of the boss battles is unique, it doesn’t feel repetitive, which makes it a lot better for someone like me who gets bored easily. Another thing I love about this masterpiece is the sound effects. They make the game come alive. The gun effects sound like a real gun and there were times my grandmother thought a gunfight was actually taking place within our neighborhood. The sound effects are just so special.

Also, the story of the game is great. I’m briefed on every mission before embarking on them. The feeling of having to take out all the guys surrounding the bad guy before taking him out is just too good. The developers did well, making players captivated and engrossed in the game.

Conclusion

High On Life is one of my favorite games thanks to its setup. The game underlines the existence between good and evil. There are so many themes in the game that depicts the real world. If you’re a fan of first-person shooter games, you can’t afford to miss this one.
