CREATIVE DESTRUCTION

As the name implies, Creative Destruction helps players who have always had the knack to build and destroy achieve their fantasy. The game is a spinoff of the famous high-end title, Fortnite. Interestingly, the latter is also a spinoff of the household battle royals title, PUBG. This trend only teaches us that the success of a game doesn’t depend on the source as long as the developers bring something new to the table. Consequently, Titan studios did give enthusiasts something worth their time as this game could work on low-end PCs compared to its evident high-end predecessors.

Apart from its apparent and impressive optimization for low-end PCs, the developers also did an excellent job on the gameplay and graphics. The cartoonish art style offers two main advantages. The first is the colorful and appealing look that enhances immersion, and the second is the ability to play the game on a wide range of devices without graphical glitches. There is no hiding the fact that since this game’s release, critics have made various statements, with some claiming it is a shameless clone of its predecessors. However, a common ground is that there’s no denying the fun and great time it guarantees.

Gameplay: Modes, Story, and Weapons

Creative Destruction is a battle royale and survival game where you start by landing on a big island of 99 other players in battle. The aim is to fight your way through these hordes of competitors and be the last man standing. Interestingly, there’s only one island but with 13 different terrains. Hence, the game feels fresh as you progress. The shrinkable playable area during each match also adds to the freshness as the battle territory brings a new look every time.

Typically, the game offers you a weapon known as a destructor at the start of each match. As its name implies, the rifle effectively brings down structures and is surprisingly valuable for building some things. If you wish to get more weapons as you’ll need them to progress, check buildings, war chests, and drops. You can also get weapons by looting players you kill. During your survival run, other weapons you can find include assault rifles of various kinds, bombs, pistols, and snipers. These weapons have different strengths and weaknesses. As such, the onus is on you to deploy the right one at the right time.

In addition to the myriad of weapons that Creative Destruction offers to help you be the last man standing, it also comes with different game modes. The solo mode is the default where you go through the famous battle royale. Other modes include the Duo, where you can play with one more person, and the squad mode, where you play in groups. We also have the fireteam mode and the more recent Duo driving that allows you to move around the island in a car or handle a weapon at the back of one. From these varieties of gameplay modes, the possibilities of fun remain endless.

The Best Features of This Fun Game

Though a spinoff from more sophisticated and famous battle royale games, Creative Destruction stands tall as a formidable competitor. The appealing and cartoonish art style gives its graphics an upper hand and also contributes to its smooth performance on many devices. The gameplay is also balanced when compared to its predecessors. For instance, you must gather building materials from demolishing trees, homes, or cars with your destructor before you can put up any structure. After you have the suitable materials and initiate construction, you can put up a fence, floor, or ladders by pressing one button.  Undoubtedly, this style makes the gameplay more relatable and realistic.

The essence of these buildings is to give you an edge in battle. They are temporary structures that you can use as a shield and climb when defending yourself in action. Hence, the destructor serves as a potent weapon and a building tool at the same time. However, these buildings are fragile and easy to bring down in battle, which is a shortfall from what I used to know in Fortnite. The recommendation is that you should strike a balance between bringing down your opponent’s structures and hiding behind yours. Don’t worry; shooting is easy and dynamic like what we see in advanced battle royale games.

The playable area also offers something extra to the game. As you progress in each match, the battle area shrinks and becomes covered in clouds. This innovation makes it look like each battle takes place in a different area despite only one island in the game. The developers also enriched the battle arena with enticing landmarks and added enough tension and adrenaline rush in final shootouts.

You will get a destructor, as we mentioned above, and a host of other usual tier loot-colored guns. Your ideal loadout takes less time to obtain, and the game gives you a first aid kit as part of the package. You can also get permanent gears quickly through microtransactions or other means.

The setbacks and glitches I couldn’t help but notice

Adding more newer characters and new gameplay to the title wouldn’t hurt. Another issue is the ability of players to have enough time to build structures in the middle of a fight and defend themselves with the same structure. However, these structures are expectedly easy to demolish after a few attacks, making one wonder about their use in the first place.

Verdict

Creative Destruction is a helpful alternative and recommendation for anyone that is tired of PUBG or Fortnite and is still interested in catching some fun from a low-end battle royale game. The gameplay is slick, refined, and addictive, but players should not expect something completely different from its predecessors.
