The game Bravely Default is an ambitious video game that deals with role-playing. Four characters travel around the world of fantasy to save crystals from the calamity of darkness. Bravely Default also has two other versions developed after it to correct the criticism of the first edition. Bravely Default was developed by Silicon Studios. Nintendo and Square Enix then published it. The game is available on Nintendo 3DS.

Traveling Around the World of Fantasy

The game has a fantasy location named Luxendarc, where there are four fantasy crystals. Calamity befell this universe when darkness overpowered three of the four crystals, leaving the wind, Agnes as the only survivor of the attack. Later, a soldier joined Agnes Oblige from Eternian, Tiz Arrior, a shepherd, and Ringabel, a vagabond. All the characters in the game set out on a journey, traveling towns, villages, and dungeons to three out of the four temples so that they could rescue the crystals that were overpowered by the darkness.

On their way, the Eternia soldiers confronted them, but they finally wrestled their way to the home of one of the crystals where they defeated all the enemies that came on their way before they could carry out the rescue mission. After successfully rescuing the earth’s crystal, the light appeared in the sky.  They continued their mission till they rescued all the crystals that darkness had consumed. 

Navigating the Fantasy World of Luxendarc

The game deals with role-playing, where you can use a map to navigate the fantasy world. On top of the screen, you will see your environment in the fantasy world, and the map of your current environment, your statistics, and the item menu will appear at the down part of the screen. When you are in a battle with enemies, the manner of such an enemy that appears is determined by the current period of the day that appears on the map, either day or night. You can also increase the way you will travel around the universe when you use airspace. This will also allow you to reach locked areas when you use the airship. You can also trade at special outlets when you navigate your way to the town. You can either trade magic, tools, or armor. In addition, you can rest in an inn when you get to town during the game. 

After the liberation of any town in the game, the player then carries out the town’s reconstruction. The friends you encounter online will be inhabitants of any town you liberate, and the collective input from them will be used to reconstruct any town. However, in reconstruction, you will get rewarded with valuable gifts that will be useful in the game. The reward you get from reconstructing any liberated town will give you access to other forms of reward. Nevertheless, in the process of rebuilding, a random enemy will appear. You also get a special reward to defeat an unexpected enemy that appears when you are reconstructing any town.

Battles to Save the Universe

The game is a task-based game where you assume the responsibility of rescuing the universe which darkness had attacked. As a player, you will be engaged in many battles to save the universe. A light will appear when you win a battle to indicate that a crystal has been rescued.  As a player, you will be confronted with battles that come in dual ways. You will first be in a battle where you will encounter enemies that appear randomly. Secondly, you will fight another battle where you will later face the higher-ranked and powerful enemy. You will engage in the battle rotationally, where you will attack the enemy with many things from your armory.  Moreover, there is an option of escape in any battle you encounter. 

Moreover, you have two options when you engage the enemies in a battle. The first one is called the Brave Point, which specifies the sequence of actions performed in each turn by you or the enemy. Also, you can recover all the moves again after each turn. The second is the Default Point, where the player can control the enemy’s attack’s potential damage. Also, it allows you to control the manner of play, pause your opponent for some time and take turns on your opponent without any cost. In the game, there are 24 jobs. When you defeat a human boss, you will get an asterisk. Each level has its peculiarities where you will encounter challenges similar to what you have experienced in the previous level. Your characters can make spectacular actions, and you can add many customizable elements to each special move to suit your desire. 

When you complete each battle and win as a player, you will be rewarded with experience points. These points will allow you to improve the ability of your characters, as well as unlock new skills. In addition, if the player fulfills any condition attached to a level, such a player gets a bonus. One unique thing is the liberty to go online and borrow customized and special features from your friends who play Bravely Default, irrespective of your friend’s current level. Nevertheless, Bravely Default has many difficult levels that you are free to adjust to your ability at will. However, you can only adjust the difficulty level when you are not engaged in a battle with the enemy. 

Conclusion 

Bravely Default does not have a named enemy as you will be confronted with enemies that will appear randomly. However, Bravely Default II has defined the enemy, and you will know where and when the enemy will appear.  Moreover, another difference between the two editions is the appearance of the characters in the game. Characters in Bravely Default look like little kids. However, characters in Bravely Default II look more like adult characters. The appearance makes Bravely II attract players that are adult. Nevertheless, both of them have the same pattern.
