As critical as scoring a hit is, scoring a home run is even more crucial. Home runs are worth more; they stack up even higher when you get them in a row.

Hitting The Golden Balls

Once in a while, the pitcher hits you with a golden ball you need to hit. When you do, it goes into your bank, and these banked points are what you use to get new outfits and bats for your player. The game is fun, and you can spend hours swinging that bat trying to get the crowd wild.

However, what kept me glued was the desire to get more golden balls because with them, I could get myself some licensed Louisville Slugger timber bats. The worst thing that can happen to you in the Home Run Battle 3D is finally getting a golden ball after countless swings, only to miss it. Golden balls are, however, very rare by design.

It would have been a bummer if a game this good did not have a multiplayer mode, but thankfully, it does. It feels like the game was designed to be played by multiple people, and that is the real deal. The interface is so easy that you can instantly challenge any player online for a diamond domination contest. Before you commit to a game with your new competitor, you can check out their stats, like two boxers ensuring they are in the correct weight category.

With the picture-in-picture mode, you simply swing for the fences and try to fill up your point meter faster than your competition, and the first to do that wins. It also helps that the game is widely popular, so there is no shortage of competitors to connect with.

It is a very intriguing approach because, asides from being a competition against another human, it is also a race against time. You can also see your competitor’s swing and can tell when they knock one out of the park on the small screen, increasing the tension. However, you learn not to react or stare directly at their ball because you have yours to focus on. It seems the goal of the game is to make you nervous and get your blood pumping, not really about winning or losing.

It also runs smoothly, showing your gameplay and competitors and revealing how good the Com2uS design is. You can get into a game within seconds and be done in under five minutes, which means you can explore multiple competitions with different people in one sitting.

Impressive 3D Graphics

Although the gameplay delivers on many things, the game’s graphics are not as spectacular as I expected. It tries its best to simulate the grand nature of the sport, and although the effort is impressive, it doesn’t deliver graphically. But you can upgrade your player’s looks and gear as you proceed through the game.

The spectators are mostly blurry, as are the fine details of the players and environment. But whatever Home Run Battle 3D lacks in graphics, it makes up for in gameplay and sound effect.

Great Arena Soundtrack

This is one of the exciting parts of the game because it truly captures the spectacle of the game. Although you may not see the crowd clearly, you can hear them. You can also feel them and the scale of the arena, from the warm-up tune you come out to before stepping on the plate to the crowd’s cheers when you execute a great swing or hit a home run to the fireworks exploding overhead. This is a great way to add authenticity to the game and make it more enjoyable.
