Of all the strategy games I have played in a while, UniWar is one of the most complicated. If you are a strategy gamer, this one is for you. The mobile game was developed by Xpressed and Javaground and was published by Spooky House Studios UG. It is compatible with the iPhone, Android, iOS, BlackBerry World, and Ovi platforms.

Released in 2009, this alien battle game does not come with any storyline or main characters. There is no backstory of Avengers’ proportion that expects you to save the world. You find yourself in a battle against another army and are expected to give your best to win. That seems easy enough.

The Ultimate Showdown Between Three Civilizations

UniWar is a turn-based game with single and multiple-player modes. The game requires a strategy where you battle enemies with the goal of capturing your opponent’s bases. Your opponent is in the single-player mode. You start the game by choosing one of three armies: Titans (heavily armored futuristic machines), Sapiens (typical human race with recognizable tanks, planes, and boats), and Khralians (an insect-like alien race with snake-looking scarabs and bees that can burrow into the ground and ambush enemies, causing severe damage).

Each army has about 11 unit types to choose from; eight are basic, and three will be unlocked as you play. Each unit type has different degrees of mobility, attack strengths, and defense capabilities. The battleground is set in hexagonal maps where you build units and try to capture the enemy’s bases, and the more bases you control, the more credits you get and the better your chances of winning. You and the opposing army both start with few soldiers and equal possession, and the slightest mistakes may lead to defeat for either of you.

The remarkable thing about UniWar is that it doesn’t expect you to grind your way to victory; it forces you to employ serious strategy to win. From the beginning of the game, you have to decide if you’re going to use a full-on attack or if you would prefer to build a substantial army with foot soldiers that you can sacrifice. The more you play, the more strategies you get to understand and develop, then you know which ones work for you.

Many Levels And Detailed Stats

There are 21 single-player levels, which come with different levels of complexity. They vary in size and scope, meaning you can select a map based on how long you want to spend on the battle. While some demand you use the elaborate schemes of helicopters, warships, and ocean vessels, others are somewhat straightforward.

You can monitor your stats and arsenal and those of your enemies. UniWar provides very detailed stats for a mobile game, including attack strength, cost, attack range, mobility, aerial and aquatic attack capabilities, etc.

Tactical Advantage Is Key

Let me break this down a little. There are different types of players that you can use in battle. Using the Marines helps you capture buildings, while the Engineers help to reprogram opposing infantry units. You also have great vehicles that inflict attacks on land, air, or sea from many miles away.

Your units come with ten health points that diminish when they are attacked. Some units can lose all their health points to simple attacks, while others are strong enough to withstand the most elaborate attacks, sustaining minimal damage. The more battle-worn a unit is, the weaker its offensive capabilities.

Intuitive Gaming Interface

It is wonderful that you do not have to register before gaining access to the whole gaming package. Simply log in as a guest on the platform, and you are immediately directed to a map. The interface is very intuitive as you can freely go through the sections easily and understand what purposes they serve.

You get the information button at the bottom left corner, the turn end button at the top right, and you can access the menu and settings at the lower right corner. You can even see the online rankings, a couple of maps, and tournaments to participate in.

A Killer Multiplayer Mode

The online multiplayer mode is one of the best features of the UniWar game. This mode can accommodate up to eight players, and while playing with a friend is exciting, you’ll find that playing with a total stranger is superb.

It is hard to employ a single strategy when playing against multiple players. This difficulty pushes you to improvise and try new things as you go, which is part of the game’s fun.

Impressive, Minimalistic Graphics

The graphics of UniWar is pretty impressive, considering it was first released in 2009. It has a decent graphic scheme that stays true to the mechanical, robotic theme but gives you a visual understanding of the world around you. The graphics are not too bright, but they still catch your eye, and the developers have kept it calm and minimalistic.

The game is better in landscape mode because it gives you a clearer spread of the world and the actual layout of the battlefield. It is astounding that a game of this complexity does not lag. The gameplay remains smooth and trustworthy whether you play single-player or multiplayer mode.

Mostly Silent Gameplay

There is little to say about the sound because UniWar is silent for most of the gameplay, except when there is an attack or explosions. However, I like the nice futuristic soundtrack that opens the game. It goes well with the robotic montage in that sequence and doesn’t lag at all.

Conclusion

In Conclusion, UniWar is one of the best android strategy games of its time and is highly recommended. It is a brilliant way for newcomers to enter the strategy games world. With an active online community and frequent tournaments, you can certainly run into a UniWar mastermind that will force you to up your game. This keeps the game exciting and gives a fresh take on war games.
