No More Heroes 3 is a hack-and-slash action game developed by Grasshopper Manufacture and published by Marvelous Inc. The game was released exclusively for Nintendo Switch on August 27, 2021, and the latest update was released on October 14, 2021, after a successful review. No More Heroes 3 is the fourth installment of the No More Heroes series and the third main story. Fans of the franchise would be excited to know that the game follows the storyline of the earlier games and is set eleven years after the events of 2010’s  Desperate Struggle. 

The Much Missed Open World Format is Back!

No More Heroes 3 has players taking the role of Travis Touchdown, an experienced assassin who must work hard to climb the galactic superhero leaderboard. No More Heroes 3 isn’t here to waste time, as players are immediately thrown into the fast-paced action as they begin playing the game). Along the way, you’ll encounter a colorful cast of characters, including other assassins vying for the top spot on the leaderboard. These characters are also a part of what makes the gameplay amazing. 

The series’s latest installment features an open-world format reminiscent of the first game, allowing players to navigate a man-made archipelago while engaging in a range of side activities, including part-time job minigames and defense missions against waves of enemies. In a departure from previous games, the open world is divided into five distinct islands, which can be traversed using the protagonist Travis’ newly upgraded motorcycle, the “Demzamtiger.” To streamline travel between islands, a fast travel system is also available.

The game also features several mini-games that add a fun diversion from the main story, such as a racing game and a wrestling match. One of the things I enjoy most about No More Heroes 3 is the variety of weapons and abilities available to Travis. From his signature beam katana to new special moves, there are plenty of ways to dispatch enemies in creative and satisfying ways.
